Did you know?
Your scalp represents about 10% of the total surface area of your skin and contains between 100,000 and 150,000 hair follicles (cavities in the skin where each hair grows). To promote hair growth, it is one of the most vascularized parts of your body. It is constantly undergoing cell renewal and regenerates every 2 to 4 weeks. A true ecosystem, it has its own skin microbiome (a complex of microorganisms).
It is therefore very important to understand it in order to take the best care of it!
The scalp is a sensitive area that deserves all your attention!
Indeed, this fragile ecosystem can be disrupted by external and internal factors.
External aggressions that the scalp is exposed to, such as sweat, coloring or bleaching products, hard or too hot water, heat, and UV rays, disturb its balance.
These harmful effects can also come from inside your body due to stress or a hormonal imbalance.
As a natural means of protection, the scalp produces sebum to form a protective barrier. Although the scalp produces between 2 and 7 grams of sebum per day, this means of protection is not always sufficiently effective. The scalp weakens and becomes disturbed.
Faced with these imbalances, your scalp is likely to change.
Your scalp can become very dry and sensitive, leaving the skin irritated, tight, and itchy. Sebum is no longer produced in sufficient quantities and does not distribute over your hair, leaving your hair dry.
Conversely, hyperseborrhea can occur, meaning that sebum production is too high. The scalp becomes unregulated, and sebum accumulates, causing very greasy roots and flat hair.
In another scenario, the scalp can become inflamed and fail to shed dead cells. Small, dry dandruff that falls off the scalp, or larger, greasy dandruff that clings, forms.
To take care of your scalp, whatever its reactions, it is important to adapt your hair care routine.
An adapted hair care routine with natural products will allow you to take care of your scalp.
First, your scalp needs to be detoxified. Also called scalp clarification, this care step aims to deeply cleanse the scalp to eliminate all residues that may have lodged there. This will free your pores through gentle exfoliation.
Ideally, use a scrub for the scalp. We have formulated the perfect exfoliant for you: the Pure Scrub. Made with prickly pear oil and aloe vera, this product will purify and gently exfoliate thanks to sea salt and lemon essential oil.
Apply it to the scalp and massage in small circles, then rinse. Use it every 10 to 15 days (or once a week in case of oily hair).
The next step is to wash your scalp. Ideally, do not wash your hair more than 2 to 3 times a week and use lukewarm water, which, unlike hot water, will not irritate your scalp.
You have two options. Use the Co-Wash which will both cleanse and help detangle your hair. Otherwise, use our Nourishing Shampoo. In both cases, we recommend massaging your scalp well to loosen dead cells and activate microcirculation.
For an even more effective and pleasant massage, use a massage accessory. In addition to giving you a moment of relaxation, it will further stimulate your blood circulation, irrigating your hair bulbs, which will promote hair growth.
