Jean Noel Lemond coiffeur

Today it's the hairstylist Jean-Noël Lemond, Artistic Director of Feelunique France, who gives us his advice. Jean-Noël is a great professional with a wealth of international experience - a passionate and professional hairdresser! He runs the Feelunique salon in Paris with a lot of passion and listening skills, where we met him: a warm and intimate place, located in the heart of the golden triangle in Paris. Of course, he loves Shaeri... And he has lots of hairtips to share with us - and enlighten us on what our hair says about us!

So tell us Jean-Noël, who are you?

I spent 15 years at Jacques Dessange as Artistic Director, and notably a lot of time abroad (New York, Moscow, Germany). I had the chance to be trained by Bruno Pitini, the iconic DA of the Dessange world and creator of the Dessange cutting technique. I've been the Artistic Director of Feelunique in Paris for 4 years now: I'm in charge of selecting and bringing in new haircare brands on their website, I coach the Feelunique perfumeries in Levallois, Neuilly and Boulogne...

I try to give the sparkle and passion I have for hair, for hair and for people!

How did you hear about Shaeri?

Before I brought Shaeri products into FeelUnique, the team contacted me and asked me to test them... and that's what I liked! I tested them on particularly fine, lifeless hair... and after applying the Intense Treatment in particular, I noticed that the hair was not weighed down at all. I also received a lot of positive feedback from my clients about the scents: and it's true that the olfactory aspect plays a role, but the clients feel that it's not just a fragrance, that it really works! By leaving the mask on for 1 to 10 minutes, we feel (and the clients feel) that it really does good. And all this, without weighing it down.

And then you have been reviewed in the press, which gave me even more confidence in your products and your brand, and I wanted to refer you.

According to you, what are the needs of curly or frizzy hair in terms of care?

They have very specific needs, depending on the type of curl, and there are 3 main "families":
- frizzy hair, which needs constant hydration, and needs to be nourished, to really have a lot of shine; and for that, the Care Oil is top!

- the more 'Mediterranean' hair, which needs to be nourished, but especially not to be weighed down!

- wavy hair, which needs less hydration, so that it doesn't "fall out" too much... otherwise, it's a hair that "falls out of fear"! And then the more you work a hair way, the less it holds...

So you really need products that can easily adapt to the nature of the curls and the hair!

Why is it important to make complete care routines, and how to use them daily?

You have to know that on the hair, there are about ten "strata" of 10 years: and a lot of external factors (like stress, excesses...) will "shorten" these strata... in fact you have a little bit of your life history on your hair! Besides, the forensic police use this a lot instead of blood tests, because the hair is a bit like the "hard disk" of your life! On 1 year, so 12cm in general, you have all the traces of your life phases, the stress, the joys, the sadness, what you eat, drink... In case of a hard blow for example, the hair greases faster, is flatter... all this is really a cause and effect relationship!
So it's very important to give the hair exactly what it needs, and to alternate shampoos - and routines, with "superpositions" and "mixes" of routines: for example, do the Intense Care directly, without shampooing first, then use the Detox Scrub!
And I really like the innovative routines like for example the Scrub Detox, which is great: it allows to regenerate all the follicles that fall out, it removes the dead hair, the dust... Yes, because it is necessary to know that the hair "dies" but takes time to fall! And so hair loss happens all the time, in all seasons... So you have to regularly eliminate all that!

What do you like about the Shaeri routines?

I've really enjoyed using the Shaeri routines by mixing them, and innovating: for example, I've been using the Treatment Oil by mixing it with my hair color! It's a killer! Not only does it rehydrate the hair, but since my colors are oil-based, it doesn't stop the product from working at all, and it doesn't slow down the color setting at all.

Do you have a favorite Shaeri product?

The Skin Care Oil... I fell in love with it! And it's a very coherent product overall, a great value for money, a beautiful pack, and recyclable...
And it's a bit like the "Swiss Army knife" of Shaeri!

Finally, last question: do you have a little 'Curl tips' for our readers?

When you do the Intense Care Mask:
- put it on the ends and mid-lengths (not elsewhere),
- then take a wide-tooth comb and gently comb through;
- and then, instead of rinsing directly: separate your hair into strands, then twist each strand with your index finger in one direction, then in the other: this allows to open the scales in both directions and thus to really make the product penetrate well. Because hair is made like a "vertical staircase", and the product is going to come up on your hair... so rather than sliding the product all the way up, help it get into the hair fiber.
Then, leave it on for 10 minutes for more effectiveness, then rinse.
