Eva BOBROW

Eva Bobrow, founder of Studio Boucle Paris

Who are you?

My name is Eva Bobrow, I am 41 years old, and I am a curl expert hairdresser, founder of Studio Boucle Paris, a mixed salon dedicated to curly, frizzy, and coily hair in the 9th district of Paris, where we promote natural cosmetics and self-acceptance. I am the proud mother of Leela (15 years old), Elyah (7 years old), and Ellah-Emany (6 years old).

Why and how did you create "Studio Boucle Paris"?

First for pleasure and then for the curly ~ frizzy ~
coily community!
The trigger was the birth of my eldest because 15 years ago, I used to straighten my hair, and the fear of being an impostor in her eyes became a source of anxiety.
Leela has very beautiful curls, and I would never have wanted her to fall into the same spiral I was in when I was younger.

Has motherhood changed your relationship with work?

Yes and no: I have always loved working and continue to cultivate this pleasure. However, motherhood has changed my vision of work and my organization. I am in favor of the 4-day workweek that I apply at the Studio.

What is your recipe for finding balance between career, well-being as a woman, and family life?

With organization and a lot of energy! Allowing oneself solo moments without feeling guilty is a must. I would also say not to react to everything and let go.

What values and messages would you like to pass on to your children through your work?

The values that matter to me are work, family, and love. These three drivers are essential to my professional and personal balance.

What is the most precious advice you have received as a mom that you would like to share with other women?

A happy mom = happy children.
Do not sacrifice your life as a woman because you become a “mom.” Being a mother is a choice, a choice that we assume and cherish.

How do you use your influence to promote a positive and inspiring message to the women who follow you?

I have fun every day by being myself! I am proud to have completed my project of professional reconversion, despite the difficulties of a tough divorce and raising three children alone.
It is still a blessing to be able to live from your passion, to do what you love every day without taking yourself too seriously…
Through my journey, I want the women who follow me to remember that “when there’s a will, there’s a way”!

Now, let’s talk about your mom. Does she have a particular impact on your approach to the hair and beauty industry, as well as your relationship with "Studio Boucle Paris"?

Of course! The women of my mom’s generation are fond of artifice: extensions, wigs, relaxers, the cult of “European” beauty was their norm.
My mother is Nigerian, my father Spanish. From this mix, I inherited “curly ~ coily” hair, and from a very young age, my hair has been the main driving force in my life. Being able to control it has been one of the greatest battles of my life. I have so many stories about my hair that I could write a book and make a movie (laughs)!
Becoming a mother myself allowed me to better understand my mother and to establish my own codes and definition of beauty.

Here, we talk about hair. Tell us about your relationship with yours and your child's/children's hair?

As I explained earlier, I had a very complex relationship with my hair when I was younger. I am therefore very happy to have chosen to wear my hair naturally and to inspire my children and those around me. Self-acceptance is the key. I love my hair, I love my afro, I love the very natural volume and its versatility. I sometimes feel like I reinvent myself with each shampoo.

We can't wait to hear your “#hairstories”: Have you had a hair experience that you regret doing, or conversely, one you never dared to take the plunge on?

I’ve tested everything, and I would say that straightening + bleaching to go blonde was not a very good idea. Fortunately, the shaved head looks pretty good on me!
With hindsight and maturity, I regret the years of straightening because it was a part-time job when I think about it, but it takes a lot of courage to be yourself, doesn’t it!

Finally, would you like to tell us about your future projects as the founder of "Studio Boucle Paris"?

The goal is to continue excelling, to support as many people as possible in revealing their natural selves, and to continue our development.
